Ten Nations Gather for First 24-7 Asia GatheringWendy Porterfield - 19 Mar 2015
The first-ever 24-7 Prayer Asia Gathering, held in Hong Kong from February 12-14, was a key moment for the 24-7 network around Asia. For the last five years, many of us have been steadily sowing into relationships across the continent, and this 24-7 Asia gathering was both a culmination and a new beginning!
Eighty people gathered from ten nations, including friends from Japan, India, Singapore, Cambodia, the Philippines, Malaysia, China, and Australia. The theme of our gathering was simply - and powerfully - “to gather”, with God and with one another.
Gathering with family and close friends around holidays and special occasions is so important to Asian peoples, and this kingdom gathering of brothers and sisters was no exception. For many, this was the first time they’d met in person after hearing of one another and interacting on our 24-7 Prayer Asia Network Facebook page. A good degree of personal sacrifice was required of those who made the trek to Hong Kong, but we never would have known for the delight of being together!
We enjoyed extended times of worship, and many had the chance to trade weariness from busy lives for the rest and joy of being face to face with our Father. Healing and refreshment abounded. We also gathered to get to know one another, and we spent large chunks of time on introductions and hearing stories of what God’s doing around the region.
We celebrated 24-7 prayer and the Alpha Course in missional cafe communities in Singapore, media reaching young people in Japan, and church planting and missional prayer in India. Important connections were formed that will carry on, and we are enjoying a new momentum in the 24-7 Asia network. We’re already talking about hosting another gathering for 24-7 Prayer Asia in 2016!
Look forward to hearing more stories of Jesus encountering His people and building His church around Asia!
